The 12^th UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP12) and the 2^nd Kyoto Protocol Meeting of Parties (COP/MOP2) were held in Nairobi Kenya from November 6 till 17, 2006. To disseminate the result of these conferences, the Global Industrial and Social Progress Research Institute (GISPRI) and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) jointly held the captioned seminar at the Nadao Hall in Tokyo on December 21, 2006.

Attended by 258 people, such as business representatives, consultants, researchers, students and others, all sharing a strong interest in global warming issue, the Seminar heard from four guest speakers of relevant ministries, who actively participated in the actual negotiation at COP12 and COP/MOP2, about the negotiation process, decisions adopted, and prospects for the future.

Through the seminar and the questions and answer period in the form of a panel discussion that followed, we were able to provide comprehensive and timely information about the ongoing international negotiation to address global warming issue, thereby raising the awareness and thorough understanding of this issue among seminar participants.
