GISPRI co-hosted an international symposium on climate change and sustainable water resources on 21 July 2008 (17:00-19:30) at Water Tribune pavilion in the Expo venue, in cooperation with the Government of Japan (METI/JETRO), two water-related UN agencies (UN-Water/FAO) and Japan Water Forum (JWF).
The international symposium was graced with the presence of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan who delivered an honor lecture as long as over forty five minutes under the theme of “Living with Water - Human Ingenuity and Wisdom” with intriguing slides and photographs taken by the Crown Prince himself.
In addition, Dr. Bert Metz (WG-III Co-Chair, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: IPCC) and Mr. Alexander Muller (Assistant Director-General, Food and Agriculture Organization: FAO) delivered keynote speeches, followed by a panel discussion in which Mr. Roque Gistau (President, Expoagua Zaragoza 2008), Dr. Kotaro Takemura (Secretary General, JWF) and Mr. Ken Nakamoto (Actor, environment education practitioner) participated.
